The Old Engine

This is what the engine compartment looked like last summer when I got the car. It was a complete mess. It looked like the original owner had tried to paint the engine while it was in the car. There was orange paint all over the firewall, and most of the wiring. The car had sat for almost 10 years in the guys garage. Every seal in the car was leaking, so I decided to take the engine and trany out to put gaskets and seals on it.

Here is another shot of before I took out the engine.

Here is one when I was just getting started.

Here it comes, almost out! What a mess many years of grime and oil.
This is the engine after I started tearing it down last summer. I was only going to put new gaskets on it, but my curiosity got the better of me and I tore it all the way down. I am glad I did, every ring in the thing was broken. So I had the block bored .030 over, the crank turned .010 and .010.

Here is what it looked like last summer after the engine was out.

Here is my progress on the engine compartment. I am using POR-15 and their Chassis paint. I have the heater box ready to go back in as soon as I finish painting the frame rails. I am getting new inner fender wells and all new bolts
